How Heat Pumps Work
Heat pumps are an efficient and eco-friendly solution for heating and cooling your home. There are two main types of heat pumps: Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) and Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP). Here’s a brief overview of how each type works:
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Air Source Heat Pumps absorb heat from the outside air and transfer it into your home. Even in colder weather, they can extract heat from the air and increase its temperature to heat your home efficiently.
How it works:
The heat pump’s external unit absorbs ambient heat from the air.
This heat is transferred to a refrigerant inside the system.
The refrigerant is compressed, raising its temperature and transferring the heat into the heating system (radiators, underfloor heating, etc.).
The heated air or water is then circulated throughout your home to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Best for:
Homes with sufficient outdoor space for ground installation.
Areas with colder climates.
